The Importance & Benefits Of Booking Yearly Doctor/Dentist Appointments

I cannot stress enough on how important it is to get regularly checked for your health every year. Never less, at least more. There are lots of things that I do not understand about life, but one that has to be close to the top is people not getting regularly checked for their health. Doctors or dentists cannot follow up on every single human being living. That's preposterous. The most they can can do is give you a courtesy call to schedule your yearly physical. To be honest, they shouldn't even have to do that unless you have a memory problem. You should take it upon yourself to set up a doctor's appointment for your yearly physical, your dentist appointment for every 6 month cleaning, and any other appointment that you feel is necessary if you sense something is wrong. Don't limit yourself or underestimate what nature can do. Everyone is capable of having the worst happen to them. When my father died, that was it for me. Not only did I continue to stay on my A game when it came to my dentist and doctor appointments (thanks to my mom), but I scheduled several neurology appointments, podiatry appointments, upon more, to take care of ME. Cancer, and other deadly diseases can be prevented from killing you if you catch it early. This means that you have to take it upon yourself to book appointments related to any disease you think you could possibly have (especially if it is hereditary, or if your skin color, drug/alcohol intake, and etc. makes you more prone to obtaining certain diseases). I realized that if my father was more adamant about his health, he could still possibly be alive today if his cancer was caught earlier. Stay on top of your health, don't let it get the best of you.

The other day my mom had a patient that was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She was dying, and the thing that pissed my mom off was that the cancer could have been prevented if the woman would only get a pap smear (which she always refused to). Do not be stubborn, let the doctors do what they have to do. You should also be on top of checking for STDs if you're sexually active. There are many free clinics that do this for you. STDs are more preventable with the use of condoms, rather than without them. If you do ever find yourself with one, it is possible to treat it. Whatever the case may be, you must always keep yourself as healthy as possible as long as you can help it. Nature takes its course and we can't really control what is destined to happen to us. The most we can do is stay ahead of the game and try to prevent or aid a health problem as early as possible. If you realized you haven't seen the doctor or dentist in a while, book an appointment ASAP. Affording health care is another issue, but in America and Canada there are affordable opportunities for us all. You need to take care of yourself. If you do find that all medical professionals declare you as healthy, still continue to make appointments, while doing what you need to do on your part. That means eat healthy, exercise, watch your alcohol/drunk intake, and etc. You may not know it, but all of the aforementioned can very well prevent you from becoming unhealthy and obtaining diseases (like diabetes). Always stay ahead of the game. If you find that you feel something wrong within your body, don't hesitate to book an appointment. You may feel like you're doing too much having appointments all the time, but there can never be too much times (as long as you're not booking appointments every week, that's realistically unreasonable). It's always better to be safe then sorry.

Phantom of the Opera

1) Before going to see The Phantom of The Opera, I passed the theater where Sister Act plays and got uberly jealous when I found out Raven-Symonéwas the new star. It was a great show and I wish she was the star when I watched it!

2) It was the first time I was on time and it was the best seat I had at a Broadway show.

3) David Li was the head of the orchestra and he was GREAT, nothing short of phenomenal.

 4) Whenever I'm at a show, I always imagine myself as certain characters. Since I can't be them in real life, the next best thing is to watch and enjoy the nerve racking singing voices, eloquent synchronized dancing, and beautiful garments. You know how everyone has that weird thing that they like? This is mines! This is ALL I did at the Phantom.

5) The music set throughout all scenes reminded me of Mozart's music. It put me on some type of high.

6) The chandelier was BOSS. It gave life to the show.

7) The main fat woman, who was clearly European-Spanish with her loud garments, was hilarious to me.

8) The set was the best set out of any Broadway show I've seen.

  9) If you guys know who Marie Antoinette is, and you end up watching this show, can you corroborate the relation between her and the show when you watch this? Somehow?

10) Broadway was live for a Thursday. It was a great Thursday.

A collection of the pamphlets I've saved

Jersey Boys

If you love "gangster" movies as much as I do, then you'll love this musical. Before going to see Jersey Boys, I had no idea of what it would be about. I literally thought it would just be about boys from Jersey. Well it is, but it's way more than that and then some. The musical tells a story about four Jersey boys making it to the top from the bottom. But, there are a few setbacks that requires them to revisit their past. The acting was great and I hope the cast stays for a very long time. Great singing, great dancing, great plot overall. Recommended.

West Side Story

Although it's been years since I've watched this, I still remember the amazing set, scenes, and theatrics. The book set the stage for me before watching the musical on Broadway. Right after reading Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, I read West Side Story in order to make the correlation between both. It's a more modern version of Romeo & Juliet and the depiction on stage is marvelous. There's a lot of Spanish influence on the dancing, but don't underestimate the Americans. I cannot remember the names of the main characters, but what remains obvious are the 2 lovers' families fighting each other due to past feuds. It is truly the modern-day Romeo & Juliet refurbished for the modern-day eye. Great show and highly recommended for those that love a lot of dancing and drama.

Beloved!

Beloved by Toni Morrison. I read this book everywhere: in the gym, steam room, train. This book taught me life lessons as I read. I've always heard about this book for years and wasn't displeased after finally reading it. It takes you back into times when slavery was slowly disappearing in the aftermaths of the abolishment (I believe). Though the events in the book are rather ghostly, or not what we would find common today, the things that the characters say are morals and lessons we could all apply to life, regardless of what generation we are in.

I go to the library for most of my books, especially for authors like my favorite, Rochelle Alers (where buying a few of her books is fine but ALL of her books would cost me a fortune). Some books are meant to be bought. This is one of them. It's very powerful.

Midnight and the Meaning of Love

Great book. I read all of her books and there isn't one that failed. This one however, stuck out a lot. Not only did it portray the protagonist, Midnight, as a dream man in the most realistic circumstances, but Souljah managed to give light to the religion of Islam and the good things coming from it. She shows you Islam in an unusual angle that you typically wouldn't see on TV. She does the same for the Japanese and Korean culture, despite the fact that this is what we would consider a "hood" book. I do recommend reading this book, but before you do I strongly suggest that you read The Coldest Winter Ever, then Midnight first. If you could buy this book, buy it!
