The Lion King On Broadway!

I always heard how classic Lion King on Broadway was, but I never ever got a chance to see it. My mother took my little brother and I to the Opera House back home in Boston to see it when we were younger, but it's been years and I couldn't remember show. I couldn't even remember the complete story of the movie. It was on my Christmas list for 2010 (as well as Charlie Brown's Christmas, yes, my mom thought I was crazy), but we couldn't find it! That's when I discovered there was a Disney Vault. Disney is clearly caking, who made up that fabulous idea?

 Boston Opera House

The play was awesome! I went to go see it with Nancy, of course (it's always either Nancy, Bory, or Barbie). We both loved it, and even though I kept dozing off towards the end due to a lack of sleep this week, it was too good to doze off for more than 2 minutes. Awesome show. Go and see it!

Relaxing In Puerto Rico

It's a shame that I have to leave the country in order to get rest.
Chauffeur had my name held up upon my arrival to SJU.
Hilton. Free, delicious cookie.
I caught up on blog posts.
I got a lot of work done for both school and work.
And I explored San Juan.

Tourists asked ME for directions, in Spanish.
The cashier in the supermarket told me the amount, in Spanish.
How can I forget the cat-calling? "Negra!"
I suppose that's the "Browning!" of Jamaica?
I got mistaken for a Puerto Rican the whole time.
And I loved it, with Spanish being one of my majors...
and the Spanish culture being my favorite.

Living In NYC

I decided that I was going to blog one of our fun weekends that we have while we're here at home (NYC). I just came back from Puerto Rico solo, so I can't really blog about this weekend. I will go into details about last weekend.

An average weekend for me and Nancy in NYC: dining at NYC's finest restaurants, attending games at Madison Square Garden, bringing one of the world's fastest runners to enjoy NYC's club with us, VIP all the time with my girls at the club. This is the life to be lived.

Every Thursdays my girls and I own Happy Ending. I haven't went out in years, or at least religiously like I used to do in my early college career until we bucked up Happy Ending with the great Max Glazer, shutting it down EVERY week. It's the spot we choose over everywhere else, out of all places we've been to, because it's a mixed crowd with the most updated Dancehall. You feel like you're at an uptown party in Jamaica but with a ghetto party's vibes. Best combination.
We definitely enjoyed ourselves that Thursday, as always.

My boy from Jamaica, (Asafa Powell, the Jamaican track star) came to NY for the weekend because the US Open was being held at Madison Square Garden that Saturday. Eventually my best friend, Nancy, and I planned to go check him, go to the race, and take him out when we got the time away from our daily-scheduled NYC lives. We met up Friday night and decided to dine at Niles. Ask Nancy, this restaurant gets 6 (out of 5) thumbs up. Their customer service was on point and their food was superb! I talked about it in my Inside Restaurants: Top 5 Restaurants In NYC, Thus Far post. I had filet mignon and a delicious mixed green salad, while Nancy enjoyed a juicy steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli on the side. We must go back again.

After, we went to go check Asafa. He wanted us to take him out and explore NYC YET he did not want to go out in the cold, so we ended up just staying in and cracking jokes. Saturday came and I had work, but eventually Nanc & I met up to go to his race in the 50M for the first time ever. He won! Nancy video'd it and you can watch it with the link below. I'm not sure if it will show.

Meanwhile, my mother-in-law planned to take out her husband for a birthday dinner at Philippe Chow. Since Philippe is so close by to Madison Square Garden, she decided to meet up with me when they were on their way, and scooped us up so I could join the family to help celebrate my dad-in-law's birthday! Nancy ended up coming along also and I'm happy that my mom-in-law invited her because I love when my loves ones get acquainted with each other. Despite one of the annoying NY Knicks' players seated behind us, and their groupies to the left of us, we had a really great, entertaining night. Mom went in! All of our dinner choices were good and we toasted with Moscato Rosé, my favorite. My little sister-in-law, Kaity, took the night with her comedic stand-ups though.

After dinner with the family, Nanc & I went to meet up with Asafa to take him out to experience NYC's nightlife for the night. We ended up at B.B. King's in Times Square on its Hip-Hop night, which turned out good. We're usually only there for Dancehall nights. Asafa said he enjoyed himself and that's all we cared about since he's a foreigner. I won't lie though, the vibes was popping. One of the promoters ended up giving Nanc & I VIP card to get in free, VIP, and cut the line every Saturday. Have yet to use that seeing that our only spots now are Happy Ending and Greenhouse in Soho.

A little taste of something close to our average weekend here, when we're not anywhere else. If you've had the NYC experience with all of my girls and I, then you already know how it goes. If not, what you waiting for? ;)
